The Manitou Art Theater is dedicated to the creation and production of original, professional performances for audiences of all ages throughout the Pikes Peak region.

Jim Jackson is an internationally acclaimed clown in the theater & circus and has over twenty-five years of performing experience. He has performed with the Royal Lichtenstein Circus, Hoxie Brother’s Circus and England’s Chipperfield Circus. Jim’s performances have been featured at The Kennedy Center, New York’s Lincoln Center and Children’s Festivals in Toronto, Edinburgh, Philadelphia, London and Vancouver.

Birgitta De Pree is a professional actor and educator whose work includes acting, writing, directing and teaching. She received her MFA from the National Theater Conservatory and performs in theaters throughout the U.S. “Elephant” was inspired by her twelve years in Africa and the amazing pachyderms she met there. She works extensively as an artist-in-residence throughout Colorado.

The Emperor's New Clothes … and other Ugly Ducks

A hilarious adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen's best loved fairytales complete with silly emperors, rascally weavers, wild swans, brave princesses and flying trunks. Birgitta De Pree captivates audiences young and old in this uproarious comedy where even the audience participates in making up their very own fairy tale.

Firehouse Circus

Jim Jackson brings over 30 years of professional experience to this one clown circus. Whether flying on a mirror, juggling Ping-Pong balls with his mouth or careening about on a broken bicycle, audiences of all ages respond with uproarious laughter. His physical comedy, witty improvisation and gentle audience participation have rightfully earned him an international reputation as a master clown.

Elephant

Join Mr. Art Guffaw in a mysterious artist’s studio where the easel speaks, portraits come alive and still lifes dances. Will this ordinary house painter who is afraid of color and unable to draw a straight line, be able to create a masterpiece? With puppetry, magic, juggling, giant soap bubbles and at least 99 art jokes, Art Guffaw brings to life an astonishing circus of fine art.
